The GLS Creates a Paradigm Shift in Nigeria’s Idea About Leadership

Yemi Davids, lead pastor of Global Impact Church in Nigeria, shares how the Global Leadership Summit is creating a paradigm shift in leadership at his church and in his region.

One of the most prevalent problems we have had in Africa is poor leadership.

All throughout our history, we have experienced a persistent leadership crisis where leaders ‘seek to be served’ rather than ‘seek to serve.’

Until now, the political class of leaders epitomized this kind of leadership, preferring to use their titles as tools of oppression by laying claim to exorbitant allowances and furnishing extravagant lifestyles at the expense of the people they were to lead.

Unfortunately, these same issues began to bleed into the body of Christ.

Each year, as we were exposed to the subject of ‘servant leadership’ at the Summit, the excesses and weaknesses of our system became apparent.

This led to a paradigm shift  and a renewed vigor towards attaining higher leadership capacity to project the dignity of the body of Christ in Africa.

We thank God for valuable lessons gleaned over the years at the Summit among others. Undoubtedly, the Summit is a most relevant tool in a dispensation such as we have found ourselves.

I commend the work God is doing through Willow Creek Association. God bless you and your team! Thank you for your support in strengthening the local churches in Nigeria and Africa at large.
